Your files are your business.
Here’s exactly how this version of Complyra handles your work.
Documents and text stay on your device
The redactor loads files into your browser’s memory. Text masking and notice generation also happen locally. Complyra does not send this content to a server, save it in browser storage, or include advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking scripts. Fonts and PDF-processing code are served from this site.
What the hosting provider receives
Cloudflare delivers this website over HTTPS and necessarily receives ordinary connection information, such as your IP address, requested page, and browser headers. Its infrastructure may retain operational and security logs. This is separate from your document content, which our tools do not upload. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
How document redaction works
You manually select areas to cover. On export, we paint those pixels opaque black and create a new PNG or a PDF made only from page images. The original PDF text layer, hidden objects, source metadata, annotations, and attachments are not copied. Unselected information stays visible.
There is no automatic OCR or detection in this release. Review every page, including QR codes, barcodes, photos, and repeated identifiers. For Aadhaar masking, carefully cover the first eight digits wherever they appear, and inspect any codes that may contain the same details. A tool cannot decide what you are authorized to collect or share.
Supported files and tradeoffs
PNG, JPG, WebP, and unlocked PDFs up to 20 MB are supported. PDFs are limited to 12 pages. Pages are rasterized to at most approximately 2 million pixels to manage browser memory. Exported PDFs lose selectable text, forms, links, digital signatures, and accessibility tags. Review readability and keep your original separately.
Text masking has limits
Pattern matching covers common email addresses, Indian mobile numbers, Aadhaar-like 12-digit numbers, and PAN-like identifiers. It can miss unusual formatting and may mask numbers that are not identifiers. Names, postal addresses, international phone numbers, and other context-sensitive information need manual review.
Notices are drafts
The notice builder helps describe purposes, retention, contact details, and withdrawal. It does not record consent or certify compliance. Review the draft against your actual practices and applicable requirements before publishing.
Clearing your work
Use “Clear” or “Close document,” refresh the page, or close the tab. Content is not saved by this application between visits. Downloads remain wherever you save them on your own device. Other browser extensions or software on your device are outside this application’s control.
